Experience the rural beauty of Vietnam.

A holiday to Hoi An is never complete if you don’t find the time and leave behind the vibrant attractions that make Hoi An such a popular tourist destination, and instead slow your pace just a little and absorb the natural energy a day or two in the Hoi An countryside can provide.
And to find that tranquility, you do not have far to travel. The beautiful island of Cam Kim, located just a short ten-minute bike ride from the center of Hoi An ancient town, allows visitors a unique opportunity to discover the real Vietnam and provides an insight into the quiet tranquil agrarian life of its beautiful people.

Traveling by bicycle is the best way to take in the slow-moving, peaceful time, which Cam Kim Island offers. Bikes are easy to obtain at your homestay or hotel, then plan your trip to Cam Kim Island for either early morning or late afternoon departure (to escape the midday sun).

Thanks to the technology of Google Maps. Use the very detailed maps and directions to sights on your phone to guide your way to and around Cam Kim Island.
A newly constructed bridge has made visiting the island easier, and is located southwest of An Hoi islet at the end of Nguyen Phuc Tan street.
Once crossing the main bridge, breathe in the fresh and cool countryside air as you peddle your bicycle down the quiet tranquil roads.
Absorb scenes of grazing water buffalo in green lush paddy fields, and coconut-strewn riverbanks, highlighted with colorful fishing boats beached in the shallows of the tidal Bon River.

Turning right from the bridge exit, lies the 17th Century Village of Triem. As your travel through the village, sights include the Phu Tho Pagoda, 19th century Xa Chuc ancient well, and the 19th century Pho Ba ancient house, as you complete a loop back to the bridge.

As you slowly ride around the island at a relaxing place, take in the sights of Cam Kim Islands’ traditional industries including, colorful handwoven woven sedge mats, rice paper making, rice wine production, incense making, and important boat building and fishing industry.
Returning past the bridge exit, and continuing along the banks of the river, head to the central part of the island, and stop at Kim Bong carpentry village. This famous village is steeped in tradition, and for over 600 years local artisans have crafted sculptures, ornate furniture, and traditional wooden kitchen products.

Nearby, lies the Ferry Dock. In the past, the ferry was the only method to cross the river to Hoi An. Not as popular now, you can however still catch the ferry back to the old port of Hoi An providing a pleasant way to return to the ancient town.
Cam Kim island has maintained a picture of peaceful pristine rural village life for centuries and provides tourists a place which to visit and experience the splendid beauty of rural Vietnam.
